With CAFFÈRIKKO a second new life for coffee grounds. A network that unites various professional and institutional partners in circulating the process of redevelopment of coffee grounds before they become waste.  It is thus possible, after being used in the coffee preparation process, to create new raw materials or finished products.

The project stems from the desire to apply the circular economy to one of the most consumed beverages in the world, coffee. The CAFFÈRIKKO network has been created, a structured and integrated system, which starts from the separate collection and recovery of used coffee in all its variants up to processing, including transport.

New life to coffee grounds, no more waste but resources!

In Italy about 360,000 tons of  coffee grounds are produced and,  despite many initiatives and proposals on their reuse, in fact over 96% still remains waste. The circularity of the process is the key to converting 100% of the spent coffee into a resource. The network shares the objectives with Associazione a Promozione Sociale PIU’INFORMA.

Redevelopment and new life to coffee grounds

CAFFÈRIKKO® grows a new sustainable business that sees exhausted coffee as a raw material. In our program all the actors of the various processes are involved and a special specification defines the implementation procedures. With CAFFÈRIKKO a second new life for coffee grounds.  A system that, activated, feeds itself, creating concrete and measurable value in tons of CO2Eq that can be saved.


It is a clear and intuitive signal that helps the consumer in choosing healthy and sustainable products.


The evaluation is carried out by a group of technicians who are experts in ingredients and functional nutrition.
